Dearest Horror Hounds,

It’s crazy, I know, we are already like a whole third of the way through November 2019 (which is honestly scarier than anything I could write about), but I’m trying to stay optimistic. You know, it’s almost 2020, you’re getting a year older, the world gets crazier as the days go by. So, I mean I guess I could share a few things that you could look forward too before you become even more senile.

With only two short months left in the year, what horror is going to be released before we ring in the new year?

Doctor Sleep

Yes I get it, I’m like a few days late but fuck it, it’s still November. Mike Flanagan (Gerald’s Game, Oculus) is taking on the task of adapting horror master Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, and all trueDoctor Sleep horror geeks know this is going to either be super fucking awesome or.. some snooze fest we don’t even want to talk about happening. A sequel to The Shining, adult Danny Torrance is once again faced with the shine in the infamous Overlook Hotel. Will it be good? Maybe. Watchable? Probably. Stephen King himself said he was happy with the movie, but that doesn’t really have a good outlook for a sensible ending (sorry Mr. King).

Nekrotronic

Guys I am a HUGE shudder.com fan, stream it, subscribe, do nektrotronicwhatever you can if you are a horror fan. Not to mention their originals are way more impressive than you would expect. And shout out to them for streaming controversial films like Dogtooth, Cannibal Holocaust, and Angst. But that’s beside the point. Coming November 21 to Shudder streaming, this horror-comedy follows a city worker as his life is quickly changed after he is said to be a necromancer. With this label, it’s his duty to stop an ancient demon from murdering other necromancers like himself. Yes, I’m a sucker for the cheesy movies with a likable storyline.

Black Christmas

Black Christmas 2019

Ah, Christmas horror, something that has so much potential yet nine times out of ten is a let down even if it looks great (ahem, KRAMPUS) but I’m super stoked for this reboot of Bob Clark’s 1974 original. You remember the story, sorority girls snowed in on Christmas, receiving a call from, get this, inside the house. I talk a lot of crap but I’m actually super excited to see how they update this classic, but with Blumhouse, I never really know what to expect. I’m just hoping for a lot of gore and some memorable murders.

Alright, so not many notable things left for 2019, but there’s a hell of a lot of movies in production that is enough to holdCandyman 2020 you over until the next year. A Nightmare on Elm Street, Final Destination, Amityville, and Don’t Breathe 2 are just a few of the big names that have been announced to be released in 2020. But I’m the most excited for Candyman, a movie I once said should never be redone, but after hearing that Jordan Peele is taking on the task of remaking this iconic classic, I literally cannot wait to see what this man has in store for us with his fresh new take on terror, with what he calls “Social Horror,” and to be honest I don’t think anything is going to catch my attention until then.

I’m exaggerating, but damn, I’m excited. What are you looking forward to catching in the next few months? Am I not digging deep enough? Let me know on Twitter (@omfghay) and Instagram (@haleydoubleu) and tell me what you think!
Your’s Ghouly,

Haley
