Fresh off his years directing for TV (the excellent The Knick and Behind the Candelabra), Steven Soderbergh is back behind the director’s chair for Logan Lucky, in what looks like a true return-to-form for a director that never really left.

Soderbergh’s ability to mix action and comedy, as well as dive into social issues and layer in conversation points, has always been a welcome addition to our eyeballs, and we love it, even more, when he’s focused on telling a fun heist story. Lucky for us, Logan Lucky is a tried and true heist story, and that gets our motors running (pun intended, but not well executed).

Top 5 Things About the Logan Lucky Trailer

  1. Hillbilly Ocean’s 11 – We’re sure this comparison will be made a lot (and if it hasn’t yet, then we are claiming FIRST on it), but this movie looks like an Ocean’s 11 style heist movie, but where you had the glitz, glamour, and class of Las Vegas in Ocean’sLogan Lucky has substituted simple-minded hillbillies. This is incredibly appealing because we might get the intricacy of Ocean’s 11 with the humor and feel of Raising Arizona. That’s an awesome feeling.
  2. Everything About Daniel Craig – From his white hair to his accent, we can’t wait to see Daniel Craig take on the role of Joe Bang (Jesus Christ, even the name is awesome).
  3. Channing Tatum – We are on the team of people that like it when Channing Tatum is given comedic roles to play. From his roles in 21 Jump Street to Hail, Caesar! and even his quick stint in This Is The End, he’s at his best when he’s funny. He looks funny in this.
  4. Kylo Ren’s Arm – We can only imagine how much mileage Soderbergh will get from Adam Driver’s fake arm in Logan Lucky, but we can guarantee you we’re in for the ride. Hopefully, it plays an integral part in busting Joe Bang out of prison. Now he’s one step closer to being like his idol Darth Vader.
  5. The Setting – We can’t think of the last great movie about a heist at a NASCAR race. Can you? Exactly. Let’s do this!

So, what did you think of the Logan Lucky TrailerTown? Hopefully you’ll be joining us in August when it premieres, but if not, we’re sure you’ll join us afterwards when everyone’s talking about how great it is.
