On TrailerTown Thursday, we’ll be sharing and reviewing a new movie trailer each week.

Given the recent legal battles over The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, it’s possible that we won’t get to see Terry Gilliam’s much-anticipated, nearly-cursed film for a while. BUT, that’s not the end of the story, because early this morning, a TrailerTown dropped for the Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce-led film. The trailer marketing is in French, but the clips and visuals give us our first real look at Gilliam’s passion project, which is pretty monumental, given that we have been waiting for something tangible to come out of this production for years.

That’s enough of us yacking, just watch the TrailerTown and then read our thoughts about it below:

Top 5 Things About The Man Who Killed Don Quixote Trailer

  1. It Exists – Yes, this may feel like a cop-out, but we’ve been waiting SO DAMN LONG to see anything from this movie that it’s a breath of fresh air that it looks like the movie actually exists.
  2. Pryce Gauge – Holy shit, it looks like Jonathan Pryce is a marvel and a wonder playing Don Quixote. His dedication, confusion, heart, passion, humor, and vulnerability are all on display here and it’s only a 90-second trailer.
  3. Whimsy Glimpses – Terry Gilliam has a distinct visual style. While not all of his movies look exactly the same, they all look like his movies. The very first image we see in this TrailerTown is a guru-lookin’ dude on stilts, surrounded by, what appears to be, secret service agents. Well played, Gilliam.
  4. Fat Attack – We’re not sure what’s happening at the 1:20 mark of this TrailerTown, but it looks like someone is in trouble with some angry fat guys.
  5. Don’t Go Chasing Windmills – What would a good The Man Who Killed Don Quixote TrailerTown be without someone attacking a windmill, and we get that nearly 20 seconds into this. Just beautiful. We won’t spoil who wins the fight, but it rhymes with “The Schmindmill”.

Who knows when we’ll get to see the full The Man Who Killed Don Quixote film, but until then, we can all watch this TrailerTown a few more times! Leave your thoughts in the comments.
