What a better way to start the week than with a new TrailerTown from our friends over at Marvel in the form of the first official look at Thor: Ragnarok? The long-awaited (and social-media hyped) threequel in the Thor saga, looks to be everything and more that people were expecting, with a heavy dash of humor, and a side-order of 80s nostalgia.

Watch the TrailerTown now while we get our thoughts together and then check out our Top 5 thoughts below:

Top 5 Things About the Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

  1. The Music – Let’s just get this out of the way, any TrailerTown that doubles down on the Led Zeppelin and plays “Immigrant Song” throughout the entire video is going to have fans in us. Not only is that a great song but with it talking about other lands and worlds and being attached to a movie where our hero (Thor) is technically an immigrant in another land, it couldn’t be more fitting. A+’s all around.
  2. The Tone – We struggled with the location of this one on the list, as the tone of this film feels like a major departure from the other Thor films, but after we thought about it, we realized that taking the Thor movies in a more fantastical direction, with humor and tone matching the Guardians of the Galaxy films, couldn’t be a better fit. Throw in that Doctor Strange will be making an appearance, and you’re starting to build a really whimsical, mystical Marvel world.
  3. The Villains – Marvel movies pretty much always hurt for their villains. That’s a common complaint. Outside of Loki, that is. Thor easily is home to the greatest MCU villain in Thor’s half-brother Loki. While Thor 2 stumbled a bit on creating an evil that could match, Thor: Ragnarok seems to be taking steps in the right direction with the amount of destruction, evil and hurdles for our heroes to overcome.
  4. The Goldblum – Who doesn’t love Jeff Goldblum? That’s right. Nobody doesn’t love Jeff Goldblum. So, having him as our Grandmaster is both perfect and exciting. We don’t get to see much of him in this TrailerTown, but a taste is all we wanted.
  5. HULK’S BATTLE ARMOR! – That’s right, we get to see the Incredible Hulk in his battle armor for the first time in action, and oh our God, we couldn’t be more excited to see how that plays out. “He’s a friend from work!”

Well, those are our thoughts on the Thor: Ragnarok trailer. What do you think? Will you be going on the third journey with Thor?
