We are Stephen King fans here at High Five: The Podcast, so when we heard that Hulu (the network behind The Handmaid’s Tale) was working with J.J. Abrams to bring a shared Stephen King universe show to life set in Castle Rock, we nearly lost our shit. We’ve been waiting patiently for deeper looks and reading all the articles, but now we officially have a release date (July 25) and have a better sense of what the show’s about.

Check out the newest TrailerTown for Castle Rock now and then read our Top 5 thoughts about it below:

Top 5 Things About the Castle Rock Trailer

  1. It Takes a Village…to be Evil – Stephen King stories are at their best when an entire town/area is afflicted. Think about Salem’s LotNeedful Things, Under the Dome, The Tommyknoc……haha, okay, we couldn’t even finish that last one, but seriously, Stephen King writes big stories very well. This #TrailerTown doubles down on the idea that Castle Rock may be cursed, and we are fine with that.
  2. Cougar Down! – Does a shocking image of a guy in a cougar suit waving to a young girl as he walks off the roof of a school make a horror show trailer better? You’re damn right it does! It’s our second-favorite thing about this whole thing!
  3. Locke & Carrie – Holy shit is this cast stacked. Let’s just name them off – André Holland, Jane Levy, Terry O’Quinn, Bill Skarsgård, Sissy Spacek, and Scott Glenn. Not to mention that Stephen King and J.J. Abrams have it’s back. We have high hopes.
  4. Gunton Troubles – This. A million times this. Pause the TrailerTown at 0:42 for a wonderful Bob Gunton easter egg.

  5. Ides of July – We finally have a release date for this show! That’s big, and July isn’t that far away. That gives us plenty of time to finish watching Westworld and need something else to fill the void!

Will you be watching Hulu this July? We already have our bus passes to Castle Rock, see you there! Let us know what you think of this TrailerTown in the comments.
