Darron Aronofsky’s Mother! had us intrigued early on, and we’re happy to report that the first full TrailerTown doesn’t leave us disappointed. Aronofsky has always had threads of horror through all of his films, but his taking a more direct route to horrify us looks like it will pay off in sleepless nights and us never allowing guests into our houses ever again.

Who knows, maybe you’re immune to terror. The only way to find out is to watch the TrailerTown and then read our Top 5 thoughts about it below:

Top 5 Things About the Mother! Trailer

  1. Classic Aronofsky – As we mentioned, we love the way Darron Aronofsky layers in horror to his films. Whether it’s the horror of uncontrolled science and brainpower (Pi), the dimay of addiction (Requiem for a Dream), the nightmare of unchecked ambition (Black Swan), or the fear of seeing Mickey Rourke with his shirt off for extended periods of time (The Wrestler), Darron loves to play with our heads. His take on a classic thriller/horror movie already has us shakin’ in our booties.
  2. Blood Simple – There’s blood all through this TrailerTown. There’s blood on a rug, blood coming out of walls, blood in a lightbulb, and blood most definitely spilled from some of our characters. Oh, don’t forget that early poster with Jennifer Lawrence holding her own bloody heart. Get ready.
  3. Javier Way With Us – Anyone who doesn’t love the work of Javier Bardem isn’t watching close enough. He can play a lover (Biutiful), a killer (No Country for Old Men), a mastermind (Skyfall) and anything else you want him to play.
  4. If You Curse It, They Will Come – Strangers in a field with torches is always a tad off-putting, which makes the scene where JLaw sees a horde of people coming to………something bad, we guess (1:28), all the scarier.
  5. LawFull – Jennifer Lawrence movies are hit or miss for some, but for our money, even when she’s in a not-quite-stellar picture (lookin’ at you, Passengers), she always gives a strong performance. We’re excited to see what she does playing her version of Rosemary’s Baby.

Where do you land on Aronofsky’s films? Hopefully, this will be one we can all get behind and get scared by. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
