Sometimes you watch a TrailerTown, and while you know it’s not going be the greatest movie ever, you know you’re going to have a lot of fun watching the film; The Hitman’s Bodyguard is one of those types of trailers. There are some heavy hitters in main roles (Ryan Reynolds and Samual L. Jackson) and there appears to be a lot of violence and cursing, so we’re definitely on board.

Check out the TrailerTown and then read our Top 5 things about it below:

Top 5 Things About The Hitman’s Bodyguard Trailer

  1. The Music – This movie might be hilarious. It might be terrible. All we know is that the fact that a movie titled The Hitman’s Bodyguard uses Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You may be one of the funniest and best things we’ve seen done in a TrailerTown in a long time. Major points.
  2. The Cast – It’s well-known that Samuel L. Jackson is in every movie ever made, but having him star on-screen with Ryan Reynolds is a smart choice. It’s basically going to be like The Man, but way better. What’s better than having two action stars that can do stellar comedy at the same time acting together? We don’t know, but this is going to tide us over until Deadpool 2 get around to coming out.
  3. The Humor – We mentioned it in the last bullet, but when an action comedy gets the mix of those two right, it’s a beautiful thing. Think The Other GuysHot Fuzz, or Beverly Hills Cops. If this movie can get over the hump of just being another serviceable, yet forgettable, release in a year, it could join the ranks of those other films.
  4. The Meta-Ness – Aside from using Whitney Houston as the trailer song, the film seems to pull that self-recognition into the dialogue and action, with Samuel L. Jackson’s character missing a jump he has made in other films and Ryan Reynolds claiming that Samuel L. Jackson “single-handedly ruined the word ‘motherfucker'”.
  5. Ryan Reynolds Screaming – We won’t lie, Ryan Reynolds is funny, but when he screams in frustration, it tickles our funny bones, and this movie looks to have a lot of that.

So there you have it, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, what did you think? Do you think the humor and action are mixed well and will you be revved up to be protected by them in August?
